NFL - Lions president Millen signs five-year contract
extension

Wow. You can't be serious. Although Millen has shown flashes of great moves, overall he sucks. He did not earn an extension.

Oh, God help us please.

The Lions have gone 16-48 since Millen was hired out
of the Fox television booth, including a league-record
24-game road losing streak.

What the hell are the Fords doing? I think they are getting dumber in their old age. Compared to the Red Wings and the Pistons, they have not even come close to the success and winning standards set by Joe Dumars or Ken Holland.

The Lions should start over, but instead they keep a failing Joker around. I guess he kisses enough Ford ass to keep himself employed.

I hope Millen starts winning, I really do. But right now, the Lions are a joke...(but with a lot of potential and hope! I'm a hopeless fan and its August so the optomism exists at the max)

NFL - Lions Want More Cornerbacks

Why are the Lions going after Ty Law and committing
more money to the CB Position? We already have locked
up some serious free agent money in Bly, McQuarters
and Bryant combined. We have also used picks on Chris
Cash, Andre Goodman, and Stanley Wilson. Am I missing
anybody? There is always a need for depth, but I'm
not sure we can afford Ty Law at this point.

If he's healthy, I do like him over Bryant, but it
seems that we could put that money elsewhere such as
getting a younger free agent at Middle LB.

NHL - D-Mac on the chopping block

Tough day in Hockeytown. As expected,Derian Hatcher
and Ray Whitney were waived and eventually bought out.
There was talk that even fan favorite Darren McCarty
would be bought out, but its hard to believe that
someone with that much heart and soul would be forced
out. Well, it happened due to the new NHL reality.

Do we sign Martin Lapointe to take his place? He is a
similar player but younger with more offensive upside.
Look for Detroit and Montreal to go after his
services. He may go to Montreal where he is from.

The Wings next priorities will be to sign Datsyuk,
Zetterberg, and Yzerman. Chelios may return if he
signs for way less which he may do instead of having
to relocate the family. The Blackhawks would be the
only other place he would probably go to unless
somebody really offers him above and beyond money.

The Avs will be keeping the expensive Blake and Sakic.
They want to resign unrestricted free agents Adam
Foote and Forsberg, but it will be difficult due to
Blake and Sakic's fat contracts.

Some more interesting names of unrestricted free
agents are Pronger, Modano, Khabibulin, Martin
St.Louis, Scott Neidermayer and Markus Nasland.

It would be great if the wings could somehow swing at
either Pronger or Neidermeyer to shore up the defense
and if they can get Nasland to go with our highly
skilled offense, then the Wings will be in contention.
Manny is an adequate goalie, but if they can upgrade
with Khabibulin, that would be better.

NBA - It's Flip

We are now free of the Larry Brown circus. I don't want to hear from Larry and his conspiracy teammates such as his wife that he really wanted to be back. By normal standards, you have to show much more loyalty to come back then be a flaky media freak.

The lower key Flip Saunders will be better for the low key Piston players. It was time for the Pistons to move on, as the situation and love affair with Larry Brown spiraled out of control.

Thanks for the championship, Larry. You are a great coach. However, you overstayed your welcome with your flirtations with the Knicks, Lakers, and Cavs...WHILE you should have been showing your loyalty with your currently employer, the Pistons.

Good Luck, Isiah! Watch your star player Marbury and your savior coach clash in the press everyday like Iverson and Brown in Philly.

NBA - More Thoughts on Larry Brown

I just wonder if the players really respected him after his flirtations with the Cavs. Were the distractions too much for the team?

One concern is Rasheed Wallace. Will he listen to another coach? Do we have another Dennis Rodman situation like after Chuck Daly left?

The Pistons need a coach who will come in and win a championship now, while playing and giving experience to our future: Darko, Delphino, Arroyo, and rookie Maxiell. Larry Brown hates rookies and foreigners. Tayshaun Prince didn't play till late in the playoffs last year.

We got a championship with Larry Brown and almost got another. He did well and we thank him for it. However, it is time for change as the Law of Diminishing returns kicks in. It would be great for him to go to the Knicks...where he is teamed up with Isiah Thomas and creates an interesting rivalry with the Pistons.

Should we hire veteran coach Flip Saunders or do we give Bill Laimbeer some experience and go with a true Piston?

I say go with Flip Saunders.

NBA - Larry Brown is Out!

Larry Brown is telling the media that he emphatically wants to stay as Piston. Hogwash! He's is being bought out, but I'm sure its what Larry wants. He interviewed for the Cavs job even after DENYING it to the media during the playoff run. He's also said that the Knicks job is his Dream Job. He's was already out the door before it was official.

He's a great coach, but the baggage and media scrutiny that he brings is just too much for Joe Dumars and his players. He brings a distraction that just may give the Heat and Pacers the edge in the playoffs.

Its time to move on and we need the change.

NHL - Wings of Change, Some thoughts.

Coach Dave Lewis did well, but he wasn't good enough to keep his Detroit coaching job.

I like Lewis, but we it may be time for a coaching
change. The team will be completely different anyway
after the new CBA and salary cap.

Expect the Wings to get rid of Hatcher, Whitney,
Shanny(already 36 years old), and possibly McCarty.
Stevie Y and Lidstrom need to take paycuts as well as
Robert Lang.

Wooley, Schneider, Daundenault, Chelios, Joseph, Hull
are unrestricted free agents and none of them may
return.

If we somehow have any cap space with these cuts, we
will need to use it for younger free agents or new
blood. The talent pool will be huge as the Rangers,
AVS, Stars,Blues, and Wings will be dumping decent
players for salary. For example, do the STARS keep
Mike Modano?

The Core players are Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Kronwall,
Fischer, Hudler, Maltby, Draper, Jason williams, and
Tomas Holstrom. Dats, Kronwall, Zetteberg, and Jason
Williams are restricted free agents who will need to
be resigned.

Olympics - The French are dirty soar losers

Like usual, the French like to whine with their country of cheese. They claim that London cheated in getting their bid. Whatever. France, you need to shut the hell up and crawl in your hole. You lost just like the People rejected Chirac during the EU Constitutional vote.

Sorry Paris, You Lost!

From the Associated Press:

PARIS - The mayor of Paris on Tuesday ruled out a bid
by the French capital for the 2016 Olympic Games.

Paris "will not be a candidate for the 2016 Games, and
if I can support a South American or an African bid, I
will do it gladly," Bertrand Delanoe told radio
network Europe 1.

Delanoe also reiterated his accusation that London had
failed to play by the IOC's rules in winning the right
to host the 2012 Games.

"I said yesterday that the rules set by the IOC for
the dossiers and the promotion conditions of the
candidature were not respected by London," Delanoe
said. "I continue to maintain that.

"And I note that the athletes are saying the same as
I."

IOC president Jacques Rogge said Saturday that none of
the cities had broken rules designed to stamp out
corruption in the bidding process, but he added:
"Sometimes they were close to the limits."

NFL - TO to Oakland??

Are the Eagles really ready to dump the Locker Room Cancer Terrell Owens? Rumors now have him going to Oakland for Jerry Porter. That sounds too crazy...although he fits there with his huge ego. However, can he co-exist with Randy Moss? No way Jose. Can't see it. Maybe for 1 year only. If Jerry Porter goes to Philly, that's a great situation for him as he returns to the East Coast where he is originally from.

I hope he stays in Philly to continue to destroy the chemistry, then maybe the power will shift in the NFC!
